Jacques Vanherle CALLING ALL CHOIRS !

Some bewildering statistics : worldwide, instrumental music attracts more than 95% of the resources available, whilst choral music attracts less than 5%. But for those who practise music, it's the other way round : less than 5% are instrumentalists and 95% are singers. Never has there been so much choral singing, in France as in the rest of the world...

Singing in a choir is a fantastic educational tool and a pleasure which is available to everyone, crossing all social barriers. It also gives the possibility - at whatever standard - to create something beautiful with other people, sharing and listening to each other, values which make a good deal of sense in today's world.

But at the same time it is considered as a minor art by musical broadcasters. A sort of "poor relative", an "amateur" art. This is why, for the last three years we have been working with the International Federation of Choral Music to prepare this great Showcase, both a festival and a marketplace, the new "Avignon of choral singing".

A marketplace which will help to make known and to present the best emergent groups to musical distributors worldwide. And at the same time, an enormous festival for all amateurs from the humblest to the most enlightened.

Because "amateur" is not a dirty word, but the greatest of all artisitic qualities, it simply means that we love. Passionately!
