...saint-lô

Saint-LoIn the heart of the Cotentin peninsula, Saint-Lô is surrounded by its remparts and the bridge over the river Vire near which it was born.

The administrational centre of the Manche department, it is a town which is proud of its roots dating from the early middle ages - the time of the Bishop Saint-Lô then the Viking. 95% of the town was destroyed on 6th June 1944 but Saint-Lô rose to the challenge of rebuilding, turning its face resolutely towards the future.

Capital of horses, welcoming the first stud farm in France, the main centre of regional food production, place of higher education, the agglomeration of Saint-Lô brings many projects to fruition nourished by its assets. With its museums, its theatre, its modern music auditorium, its artists' workshops, Saint-Lô is proud to open wide its doors to choral music for a new International Festival.

The music and voices brought together for this wonderful event adds to the cultural ambition of the town. Welcome, Polyfollia.

François DIGARD
Mayor of Saint-Lô
