DE BOCA EN BOCA Argentina
Worldwide music from four fiery females
De Boca en Boca, literally "mouth to mouth" is an explosive vocal ensemble of four young Argentinian women, united since 1995 by their passion for folk and world music. More than a musical experience, their work is "a revelation of trans-cultural styles".
Since the recording of their first disc "Music of Worlds" in 1996, the quartet have built to a "crescendo" of tours in Latin America (Venezuela, Mexico, Costa Rica) and collaboration with renowned artists such as the Panamean Ruben Blades, with whom they made "World" and which took the Grammy Award in 2002.
The singers
Alejandra Tortosa soprano, has followed a remarkable route as much in popular song as in the more classical operatic repertoire, in baroque music, and latin-american or contemporary songs - Kurt Weill, Stravinsky - which she has performed in Cordoba (Argentina) and abroad (Poland and Bolivia). Her tastes also allow her freely to express her talent for vocal improvisation in the domain of electroacoustics.
Viviana Pozzebon as singer and percussionist gives rhythm to the quartet. With joy and energy she plays all types of music in eclectic concerts in Cordoba : funky rock, afro-latin-funky, salsa... In 2002 she received a grant from UNESCO to further her studies in the playing of bata drums, congas and timbaletas at the Superior Institute of Art in Cuba.
Soledad Escudero is very attached to the choral ensembles in the city of Cordoba, and brings with her soprano voice a light and gentle touch to the "De Boca en Boca" quartet. With a classical training she has also successfully learned all the secrets of popular music, from afro-cuban to Havana : percussion, song and dance... She uses her passion for music to help the handicapped, children and adults, with whom she works in a music and movement workshop as a specialist teacher.
Marcela Benedetti has a deep, warm mezzo soprano voice and has a successful career as a lyrical singer, most notable at the heart of the Polyphonique Choir in Cordoba. A Popular Music teacher, classical and baroque soloist, she redoubles the musical perspective and contributes richly to the the happy, flamboyant quartet "De Boca en Boca".
