A choral show from the north that'll blow your hat off

Amanda is a unique choir : without conductor, without copies, they rely on their talent, their musical sense and the individual responsibility of each of the 28 men and women who make it up, all of whom come from the world of music and drama. At the end of the 1980's AMANDA decided to explore new fields of creativity and show business, developed by the means of collective research from ideas, poetry or situations, musical-poetical-physical creations to which producers or choreographers sometimes contribute for a final touch. The work is hard and slow, but the results will blow your hat off!

An alliance between vocal and instrumental music, their sense of play and of improvisation, productions surprising and full of humour, light and costumes, the members of Amanda use all their versatility - the singers show that they are also accomplished instrumentalists - to serve original and hybrid music, the fruit of a great variety of styles. Each of their productions leaves us with a memory of a real and unforgettable voyage.

The show "Tidvill" (Lost in Time) tells us of the magic of everyday life, made up of encounters and the joy of living. This spectacle is a real treat for eyes and ears and carries us along on its wild rhythms...

With each of its shows, AMANDA attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators in Sweden : it has also conquered the rest of northern Europe, Germany, Italy, Spain, Israel, Palestine, Cuba and Brazil. Their record collection composes of six titles : three original productions and three collaborations.

Lars Smedlund has been the artistic director of the choir since 1983. He studied at the University of Goteborg and has directed several choirs over the years. As a composer, he has helped in making Amanda a great success, always considering that the richness and potential of the choir is to be found in the heart of its members, each one developping his individual creative talent. In 1993, the members of Amanda collectively won the Swedish prize for "best choral director of the year"!
